Rhododendron
Generally speaking, Rhododendron is a name given to the plants under the genus of Rhododendron in the Ericaceae family. Rhododendron can either be shrubs or trees, evergreen or deciduous. The smallest species is only a few centimeters high, while the tallest can grow up to 20 meters!

Most of them have showy flowers with pink, red, yellow, white colors. Of the total 960 species of Rhododendron in the world, China has 560 species while Sichuan Province has more than 200 species, accounting for one-third of China’s total and ranking among the top provinces in terms of the Rhododendron diversity.

Every year from April to June, the Rhododendron covering the mountain slopes bloom in sequence along with the rising altitude. Viewing from distance, it looks like the whole mountain is decorated with a carpet of colorful, gorgeous open brilliant purples and reds.
